Established in 2019 but utilising staff with over 50 years experience of working with adults with learning difficulties and disabilities, Northern Stars Theatre group aims to deliver a fully-rounded, multi-disciplinary performing arts experience for individuals who may otherwise find it difficult to access and participate in this vibrant, fulfilling and sociable area of work.
The group works on several live performances a year which are often instigated and developed by its members and can involved everything from singing, dancing, acting, scriptwriting, choreography, set and prop design and creation, costume and make-up design, film work, sound an flight operation, songwriting and more. Shows can take place anywhere from professional theatres or social clubs to community spaces, hospitals and care homes.
