At the heart of a truly inclusive society lies the understanding that every individual—regardless of ability, background, or circumstance—has an equal right to participate in shaping the world around them. This vision drives the work of POINT, a dynamic and passionate organisation committed to empowering families of children and young people with additional needs and/or disabilities. Through co-production, partnership working, and a robust culture of support, POINT champions inclusion.
Since its inception in 2010 by four dedicated parents and carers, POINT has remained steadfast in its mission: to ensure that families are not only heard but are actively involved in influencing the design and delivery of services they access.
POINT was started in 2010 by 4 parents and carers of children and young people with additional needs and/or disabilities, as a parent carer forum. Our driving mission was to ensure that parents and carers had access to meaningful information, consultation and co-production opportunities enabling their voices to be heard to drive change and shape better services to improve the lives and outcomes of children and young people with additional needs and/or disabilities aged 0-25.
In 2015 the organisation became a registered charity and we started to deliver statutory SEND Services such as Oldham SENDIAS Service, Blackpool SENDIAS Service, Oldham Mediation and DRS, Short Breaks, Play & Leisure Offer, Workshops and Training Service and hosts the Parent Carer Forum, in Oldham
