Skye Morgan

Nominee Profile
Location: Glasgow
Skye, they/them, is a 17-year-old youth activist. They are a Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYP) for LGBT Youth Scotland, where LGBTQ+ young people elected them to be their voice in the Scottish Youth Parliament. They are also an Iwill Ambassador, where they work with all sorts of decision-makers to create a better environment for LGBTQ+ young people - specifically transgender young people. They are a member of the Youth Advisory Group for Suicide Prevention Scotland - they use their personal lived experience to give their opinion about including young people in conversations about suicide. As well as all of that, they also founded and currently lead the "We're Not Going Anywhere!" campaign, and they are a mental health advocate.
Throughout Skye's time as an MSYP, they have achieved many things, one of which is passing a motion through the Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) stating, "The Scottish Youth Parliament believes that the education in Scotland around Transgender, Non-binary and Intersex education needs to be improved by offering a comprehensive, inclusive and universally structured curriculum, shaped by the direct experiences of the trans, non-binary and intersex communities."
This motion was passed, and from that, Skye founded a campaign titled "We're Not Going Anywhere!" that actively seeks to improve education by creating a report and then advocating for improving the transgender, non-binary and intersex education system within Scotland. The group is made up of young people, with the majority of members being transgender, non-binary or intersex to allow for that first-person lived experience.
Skye is also a student journalist, studying an HND in Practical Journalism at City of Glasgow College, where they use their platform to highlight issues affecting LGBTQ+ young people in Scotland and the UK.
