Community Organisation Award

Community Organisation Award for Gender

Nominee Profile

Location: Northampton
Wow, what a total honour to be nominated for such an amazing “GROUP COMMUNITY AWARD”receiving recognition just goes above and beyond what I set out to do with this lovely group. What I mean is, Transpirational was set up over 5 years ago now, for all those questioning their gender identity. I myself Transitioned quite a few years ago and I struggled to find help or support, reaching out onto the internet and finding things certainly not suitable or not even in this country, and just not finding any relevant support for me. I felt lost, alone, and very insecure. Don't get me wrong, I had my wife and family but this was different, I didn't know where I belonged or even fitted into this world and so I decided to write my own book ( Sally to Shay), and set up my own support group, which has just gone from strength to strength with now over 3.7k members. This takes up more than my own full time employment, this reason being, I never want anyone to feel that loneliness that I did, so all texts, comments, posts, emails, will all be dealt with straight away or within at least the same day.

Transpirational has become my daily life, I set it up to be based really in the Uk, but then why leave it there when there is everyone in the world that needs support, and so my group grew and grew and now all over the world. It is an extremely tight supportive group and people do get vetted to join with questions and profile searches, we do this to make 100% sure we are keeping the group safe for all and only genuine people that need us get in, this could also be family, partners, parents & friends. They need support and to learn too.
Transpirational is very known for the safe and family net that has been created.

Transpirational is not only an online group we have social monthly meet ups, where I hire a hall and put on tea, coffee, cake for all to attend and people love the fact they can come and meet their online friends and feel safe in a safe environment, we have talks from organisations that I arrange to come in, police hate crime officers that attend to show they support and are there too.

I also make a calendar for the group and people just want to be in it, I open up around July time and within an hour I have to close the applications again as so much interest to be part of this is overwhelming, again this is posted out worldwide and people feel acknowledged they are in a calendar, some have said their dreams come true to be part of this.

Christmas time I put on a Christmas party for all, where we have DJ, food, party bags ( Yes adults love party bags too), A bar. A pageant, and I crown Mr, Miss, &Mx Transpirational, people come from all over the country to attend this and stay in local hotels, people love it.

With the group always growing I couldn’t do this alone and needed support myself, I Have an awesome admin team consisting of two Female to males (FTM), one Male to female (MTF) two parents one being a Nurse too all of us working full time jobs, hopefully where any one of us can ask a question when it arises, running Transpirational is all voluntary.

As the group has become one massive family everyone helps and supports each other and I am so proud of the group, this has to be one of the biggest achievements of my life.

I didn’t do any of this for recognition, I did this purely to help other people, and I strive to help others. That is my goal for this group. Love, support, help and guidance to all those that need it. Not to gain recognition, although I am blown away that people do want to show me that love and support back. Totally Incredible and honoured to even be writing this bio x
