Vie Portland believes we're all here to make a difference, & that we need to be the change we wish to see in the world; how she lives is testament to that.
Vie lives with multiple disabilities, including EB, and ADHD, and others.
Vie loves that she is frequently called "sunshine in human form"! She's been told that people have seen her behaviour & started emulating it by being more complimentary to others, being more inclusive, & showing more kindness, to themselves & others.
Vie helps people Find Their Fabulous. She believes we all deserve to feel good about ourselves. She runs confidence & self-esteem boosting workshops for children, young people, & women, in schools & groups; she gives training to schools, wraparound care providers, & corporates, giving them tools, & encouraging them to develop their own, to create happier, kinder, more confident, work spaces; she writes inclusive children's picture books & positive growth books for adults; and she gives motivational talks.
Vie has recently been named as a Southampton Forward Community Legend, which she is very proud of; she was nominated, and chosen, because of the work she does in the community, through her work & her volunteering.
Vie has also been a long-standing Ambassador for the charity DEBRA, a charity that supports people with her rare disability, and she also runs the largest online community for people in the UK who live with the disability.
Being a finalist for this award would mean so much! People see Vie now and, though they have heard her say that she hasn't always been this confident (she has always demonstrated kindness in abundance because she was without it for so long), and they believe it's true, but they didn't know her before, & aren't really aware of how far she has really come. To come from hating who she was, & how she looked, feeling everything about her was broken, all because of abuse and neglect, to now being in a place where she is nominated for this incredible award is amazing!
