ADHDAF+ Charity
Nominee Profile
Location: London
ADHDAF+ Charity connects and empowers ADHD adults of marginalised genders in Scotland, England and Wales at any stage in their ADHD discovery or diagnosis. ADHD remains widely misunderstood and under-supported with half a million people on the waiting list for ADHD assessment in the UK. Tragically, 1 in 4 ADHD women have made an attempt on their life; ADHDAF+ was created to meet this urgent need for support.
Since launching our first free, in-person peer support group in March '25, ADHDAF+ has facilitated over 80 groups nationwide. These act as vital support networks, helping individuals understand their condition, reduce isolation, and develop practical strategies. For many attendees; particularly those who have been misdiagnosed or dismissed; ADHDAF+ represents the first time they have accessed meaningful, relevant support.
Empowering our volunteer facilitators is as important as our attendees; all of whom are late discovered ADHD women whose quality of life was greatly improved by the ADHD As Females podcast community and events, which inspired the Host Laura Mears-Reynolds to found ADHAF+.
Our work has gained national recognition, featuring in the BBC and The Independent, highlighting both the scale of unmet need and the effectiveness of our grassroots, community-led model.
ADHDAF+ has also partnered with the National Trust for an innovative live event series, expanding accessibility and creating inclusive environments where adults with ADHD can connect, engage, feel supported and learn ways to best support themselves.
In less than a year, we have developed a scalable, community-driven model that directly addresses gaps left by existing services. By providing consistent, accessible, and inclusive support continually informed by the community we serve, ADHDAF+ is improving the quality of life for ADHD adults of marginalised genders while demonstrating what effective, community-based disability support can look like.
