Celine Dyer

Positive Role Model Award

Positive Role Model Award for Disability

Nominee Profile

Location: South Ayrshire
Hi, Im Celine

I am a 24-year-old Project Co-ordinator with the Neurodevelopmental Empowerment Strategy Team (NEST) within NHS Ayrshire & Arran, a wheelchair user, and a neurodivergent individual with Autism, ADHD and DCD.

My journey has been shaped by both lived experience and resilience. At 16, I underwent two spinal surgeries which put my ability to walk at risk. I had to relearn how to walk while sitting my Highers, and I now live with a degenerative spinal condition, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), and Trigeminal Neuralgia.

Despite this, I work full time supporting neurodivergent individuals, families and professionals across Ayrshire. My work focuses on breaking down barriers, improving understanding and creating more inclusive, neuro-affirming support.

Before joining NEST, I spent 15 years running a local charity supporting autistic individuals and their families.

Everything I do is shaped by lived experience. I understand what it feels like to struggle, to be misunderstood and to need support that truly works.

I am passionate about creating change so that neurodivergent and disabled individuals feel understood, included and supported in ways that genuinely meet their needs.

I would not be where I am today without the support of my family and my husband, who have stood beside me through every challenge and continue to support me every day.

This nomination represents not just my journey, but the importance of representation and lived experience in shaping better support for others.
