Nominee Profile

Location: Birmingham
Cerebral Palsy Midlands (CPM) is a Birmingham-based charity supporting adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities to live full, connected and meaningful lives across the West Midlands.

Founded in 1947 as the Midland Spastic Association (MSA), CPM has nearly 80 years of experience supporting people with cerebral palsy and other complex physical disabilities. Based in Harborne, Birmingham, the charity operates a thriving and inclusive day service that supports approximately 45 citizens from across the West Midlands, with around 30 attending daily.

More than just a service, CPM is a community. With a team of around 20 staff, specialist tutors and dedicated volunteers, the organisation provides personalised care, creative opportunities and meaningful social connections for adults with complex physical needs including mobility impairments, speech and communication difficulties, dysphagia and associated learning disabilities.

CPM follows the social model of disability and actively challenges the barriers that still prevent many disabled people from fully participating in society. The charity advocates for equality, inclusion and accessibility while supporting citizens to develop confidence, skills and independence.

From writing and performing their own musical productions to winning gold medals in wheelchair dance and enjoying accessible holidays and community activities, CPM empowers citizens to pursue their passions and live life to the fullest.

CPM is very much like a family, a supportive and welcoming community where individuals are valued, voices are heard and people are empowered to thrive. www.cpmids.org.uk
