Conquest centre
Nominee Profile
Location: Taunton
Conquest Centre in Taunton is a grassroots charity dedicated to supporting individuals of all ages with disabilities, neurodiverse conditions, and those experiencing emotional or mental health challenges. Rooted in a deeply person-centred and trauma-informed approach, our work is led by a team of emotionally attuned mentors who build genuine, trusting relationships with every individual they support.
We pride ourselves on being a community organisation shaped by people, not processes. Our mentors are powerful role models, bringing an extraordinary and diverse range of life skills into their practice – ranging from animal behaviour and equine coaching to decorating, DIY, hairdressing and marine biology. Mentors also mostly have lived experience of some sort, either of caring for a family member or their own personal additional needs. This richness allows us to connect with each person in meaningful, creative, and often unexpected ways, recognising strengths that may not be seen in more traditional settings.
Our unique environment blends science based therapeutic support with nature and animal-based experiences. Set across a peaceful and inclusive 17-acre farm site, we offer forest school, animal-assisted interactions and opportunities to engage with the natural world in ways that promote confidence, regulation, and wellbeing. Many of our clients find connection and expression through shared experiences with animals, outdoor activities and relational support.
We are continually evolving to meet the needs of our community. Alongside our existing provision, we are developing an inclusive sports and activity area, which will include table tennis, skittles, and a climbing-style wall designed to encourage physical engagement, teamwork and confidence-building in a safe and supportive environment.
At Conquest Centre, we see beyond labels and diagnoses. We create spaces where individuals feel valued, understood, and empowered to be themselves. Our work is not just about support – it is about belonging, growth, and unlocking potential within a community that truly cares.
