Dynamic
Nominee Profile
Location: Wrexham
Dynamic is a centre, based in North Wales who have been supporting children and young people (aged 8 - 25) with disabilities for over 30 years.
At the heart of everything we do is the belief that disability should never be a barrier to participation, opportunity or ambition. Many of the young people we support face challenges accessing mainstream activities, social opportunities or appropriate support elsewhere. Dynamic works to bridge that gap by creating accessible, welcoming environments where individuals feel valued, heard and empowered to be themselves.
Our services currently include a wide range of tailored support opportunities designed to meet the differing needs of the people we work with:
• Fortnightly after-school activity sessions that provide a fun, safe and inclusive environment where young people can develop social skills, increase confidence, build friendships and strengthen their independence through engaging activities and shared experiences.
• One-to-one support services that help young people navigate important life transitions, build resilience and self-esteem, access informal advocacy and develop the confidence needed to engage more fully in education, community life and future opportunities.
• A signing choir, rehearsing twice weekly, which offers a
creative and inclusive outlet for self-expression while promoting communication, teamwork and confidence. The choir regularly performs within the local community and at wider events, helping to challenge perceptions around disability and celebrate the talents of its members.
• A daytime young adult social group meeting twice each week, enabling adults with disabilities to remain socially connected, maintain and develop independence, and take part in activities chosen by the group themselves. This service promotes autonomy, friendship, wellbeing and active participation within the community.
• A participation group that empowers young people to have a
voice on issues affecting disabled people locally and beyond. Members work alongside local organisations, services and decision-makers to share lived experiences, provide valuable insight into accessibility and inclusion, and help influence positive change within the community.
• A monthly nightclub that welcomes adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, providing a safe environment to enjoy a night out in our city centre.
We are proud of the positive impact Dynamic continues to have and of the many individuals who, through our support, have developed greater independence, increased confidence and meaningful social connections that support their wellbeing and everyday lives.
