Here to Help Team
Nominee Profile
Location: Darlington
Here to Help is a suicide prevention and awareness project focused on supporting autistic individuals and people with learning disabilities. The project works to reduce risk and increase understanding by creating safer, more inclusive environments where people feel able to express themselves and access support.
Through co designed accessible resources, professional training, drop in sessions, and community engagement, Here to Help works to improve wellbeing and emotional understanding for neurodivergent individuals, strengthen support networks, and empower professionals and families with practical tools and knowledge to provide more effective support for autistic people.
In the first year, we aimed to reach 2,000 people; however, we far exceeded this target and achieved 78,000 engagements. This is a great outcome for the project’s success but also highlights an important need within community practice, illustrating the significant demand for this support in the area.
