James Montgomery
Nominee Profile
Location: Southampton
James Montgomery is a former engineer turned Learning & Development professional and a recognised advocate for neurodiversity, disability inclusion and LGBTQ+ allyship. As an autistic professional, he uses his lived experience to challenge stigma, influence workplace culture, and promote environments where individuals feel empowered to be themselves.
Originally from Jersey in the Channel Islands, James began his advocacy journey locally before expanding his impact nationally following his relocation to the UK. His work sits at the intersection of professional development, lived experience and inclusive leadership, with a focus on turning awareness into meaningful action.
He is the founder of Racing Awareness For, an initiative that uses motorsport as a platform to bring people together, encourage open dialogue around inclusion, and support charitable causes. Alongside this, James is an active public speaker, podcast contributor and columnist, working with organisations such as BBC and ITV to challenge misconceptions around neurodiversity and invisible disabilities.
His work has contributed to organisational recognition, including involvement in initiatives that supported Inclusive Company of the Year at the 2024 CGI Finance Industry Awards 2024.
James is driven by a belief that inclusion is not a policy, but a lived experience - and that meaningful change begins with "having the conversation", visibility and leadership.
