Jenny Robinson
Nominee Profile
Location: Leeds
Hi my names Jenny Robinson. I have autism, learning disabilities, ehlers danlos syndrome and several physical disabilities. Even though i have barriers and obstacles in my life i don't allow it to stop me from doing things in life.
I'm an advocate for people with disabilities, I'm a rugby league coach for people with learning disabilities (the first person to pass the course with autism, learningdisabilitiesand in a wheelchair) , i sing in 2 different bands one is made up of disabled people, I volunteer at my local rugby team and I've done several 10k races on my 3 wheeled bike for charity.
I love helping other people and showing nothing is impossible. Even though you have a disability and things are more difficult you can get through life, just with a bit of love and extra support.
I lost my sister louise when I was younger and she also had disabilities. So being around people with a disabilities is normal in our family. I used to care for my sister when I was young as a carer. And I enjoyed it so much because I loved her so much. Losing her was the hardest thing we coped with. But advocating for other disabled people helped me to cope with the grief and help others.
I did a bereavement group with a charity called lippy people who helped me create a video to show how it feels to lose a sibling while having a learning disability and how I got through it through the love of my family.
I'm a passionate person and love seeing people happy. I love singing in my local choirs, I sing solo gigs in my local area for free just to help the community and to make people happy. Community and friendship means alot to me. And helping others is something I do everyday and I never get bored of it.
If everyone had someone to listen to them and support them. Then the world would be such a more happier and special place.
The people i've met along my journey are the reason I got to where I am. And I couldn't of done it without them, my parents, my friends and family.
