Nominee Profile

Location: Durham
My name is Kat Paylor-Bent, and I am a disabled entrepreneur and founder of Seated Group Ltd, a disability-led organisation working across adaptive fashion, accessibility consultancy, and education.

After becoming a wheelchair user, I experienced first-hand how systems, environments, and products often exclude disabled people. I began by adapting my own clothing, which led to the creation of Seated Sewing, designing bespoke garments for wheelchair users that prioritise dignity, comfort, and self-expression.

Since then, my work has expanded into Seated Perspectives, co-creating access-focused content to help people better understand and navigate accessibility, and into consultancy, where I support organisations to embed inclusion into their design and decision-making.

Through Seated Group, I combine lived experience, creativity, and practical insight to challenge how industries approach disability, ensuring disabled people are represented not just as users, but as innovators and leaders.
