Community Organisation Award

Community Organisation Award for LGBT

Nominee Profile

Location: Exeter
LGBT+ Consortium is the national infrastructure organisation supporting LGBTQ+ voluntary and community groups across the UK. For over 25 years, we have worked to strengthen the sector by providing practical support, building connections and ensuring LGBTQ+ organisations have a stronger collective voice.

We bring together hundreds of member organisations, many of them small, volunteer-led groups delivering vital frontline services. We provide training, resources, networking and tailored support to help these organisations grow, sustain their work and respond to the needs of their communities.

Alongside this, we play a key role in securing and distributing funding to LGBTQ+ groups. Through our grant programmes we have invested over £3m directly into grassroots organisations, supporting services that reach some of the most marginalised communities. Our work also includes research and data, helping to evidence inequality and make the case for greater investment in the LGBTQ+ sector.

Our impact goes beyond funding and support. We act as a connector across the sector, bringing together organisations, funders and decision makers to build collaboration and influence change. Through national networks, partnerships and events, we create spaces for shared learning, collective action and stronger representation.

At a time when many LGBTQ+ organisations are facing increased demand and limited resources, we continue to play a vital role in ensuring the sector is resilient, connected and able to meet the needs of communities. Our work strengthens not just individual organisations, but the wider ecosystem that supports LGBTQ+ people across the UK.

Through our long-standing commitment to community, collaboration and equity, we have become a cornerstone of the LGBTQ+ voluntary sector and a driving force for positive change.
