Nominee Profile

Location: Luton
Luton, Dunstable & Surrounding Kenya Community Forum (LDSKCF) is a vibrant non-profit community organization established in 2020, dedicated to serving the Kenyan diaspora in Luton, Dunstable, and surrounding areas. Founded by Sally Kimondo, LDSKCF emerged from the need for a supportive community that fosters cultural connection and empowers individuals to thrive in a foreign land.

Our mission is to create a sense of belonging while providing essential resources for Kenyans in the UK. We focus on community engagement, educational initiatives, and cultural celebrations that highlight our rich heritage and promote understanding among diverse groups. Our events have grown from two to eight annual gatherings, attracting nearly 300 participants, serving as a platform for networking and personal development.

As a non-profit organization, we rely on our members who contribute a small fee to support our group’s operations and initiatives, embodying the spirit of Umoja (unity). This collective effort strengthens our community and ensures that we can continue to offer impactful programs.

Youth empowerment is a cornerstone of our organization. Initiatives like the "Save a Card" program equip young people with vital first-aid knowledge and life-saving skills. In 2025, our youth had the opportunity to present this initiative at the House of Commons, amplifying their voices on community safety.

We also value the wisdom of our elders, fostering intergenerational connections that enrich our programs. By creating a space where both youth and elders can support one another, we build a resilient community.

Collaboration is key to our approach. We partner with local organizations, including Bedfordshire Police, to enhance community relations and effectively meet our members' needs.

At LDSKCF, we are committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. Together, we strive to uplift and empower our community while celebrating our heritage, proving that through connection and collaboration, we can achieve great things.
