Nominee Profile
Location: Mauchline
Hi, I’m Stephanie
A little more about me: I have lived with Type 1 diabetes since my 6th birthday (a week before my family often refer to), insulin dependent since and will be life long dependent on this, I have a pituitary macroprolactinoma adenoma otherwise known as a benign brain tumour managed by medication, while younger years I may have fallen behind and spent a lot of time either unwell or hospital stays/appointments I can only thank those years for making me a stronger person today who wants to learn and grow despite my struggles this has shaped my resilience & perspective in life and art
Despite my adversities I have a strong determination that shows throughout my life that also shows in my photography
I’m a HND qualified photographer based in East Ayrshire, Scotland with a creative heart and an adventurous eye. I trained at Dumfries and Galloway College, since then I’ve been turning my passion for imagery into meaningful, dynamic work across multiple projects
In 2012, I was honoured to win both National and Scottish photography awards in a Barclays Bank college competition, an achievement that led me to an unforgettable experience at Canary Wharf in London.
I specialise in landscape, and portrait photography but you’ll find my photography covering most areas, from wildlife photography to macro, I’ve done all round subjects with my camera and skills.
I campaign for awareness of the brain tumour charity and any photography I do is all donated to the brain tumour charity, it means so much to me because it represents my not only my journey but also I live with several disabilities and the importance of visibility, resilience , and encouraging others facing similar challenges. Through my photography I support the brain tumour charity, I continue to raise funds and awareness and Inspire others, to show there is hope and a supportive community out there.
I’m a CAA licensed drone pilot with experience in both aerial photography and videography, allowing me to capture perspectives that truly elevate a visual story and uniqueness.
Beyond the lens, I’m an artist in my own time, always experimenting with creativity in different forms although sketching is my favourite. I’m personally not very active on @stephaniedoweartkbt on Instagram but it’s where I shared my artwork over the years
I absolutely love dogs, I own 2 a chocolate Labrador and a mini Daschund. You wouldn’t think I was attacked by a dog at 6 years old, years of fear, but healing & building my confidence with animals over the years got me to where I am
Photography isn’t just what I do it’s how I see the world
