Stephanie Lynnette
Nominee Profile
Location: London
I always begin introductions by saying, “I’m Stephanie, I use she/they pronouns, and I may contain trans fats.”
I’m a proudly supersized trans woman, originally from St Austell, Cornwall, now living and working in West London across trans+ healthcare and advocacy.
I began my social transition at 13 while at secondary school, and started my medical transition at 16. Since being outed during my second year of university, I have consciously used my visibility and lived experience to support others, champion inclusion, and promote greater understanding of trans+ lives, whether that is through appearances on national television or on my own small YouTube channel.
Within the LGBTQ+ community, I am best known for my advocacy work, including playing a key role in the opening and operational delivery of Queer Britain, the UK’s only LGBTQ+ museum, in 2022. I currently serve as Events and Projects Manager for London Trans+ Pride, where I support and help lead the delivery of the world’s largest trans+ positive protest.
Alongside my voluntary work, I am a Peer Support Worker and Patient Champion at the Chelsea Centre for Gender Surgery, supporting trans+ patients through their care journeys at the UK’s leading gender-affirming surgery clinic. I am also the first trans woman to chair the LGBTQ+ Staff Network at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, where I advocate for inclusive practice and staff wellbeing at an institutional level.
Through everything I do, I strive to create a world where trans+ people can live safely, authentically, and unapologetically, because representation should not be rare, it should be the norm, and no one should have to shrink themselves to be accepted.
