The CRUMBS Project is an educational charity that delivers structured traineeships for adults facing significant barriers to employment and independent living, including disabilities, neurodivergence, and mental health conditions.
Guided by the principle of “Training for Independence,” CRUMBS supports up to 30 adults each year through accredited hospitality programmes designed to build confidence, practical skills, and long-term independence. The project’s aim is not only to prepare trainees for employment, but to empower them to thrive beyond their time at CRUMBS.
To achieve this, trainees follow tailored learning pathways within the hospitality sector, combining hands-on experience with nationally recognised qualifications. Programmes are accredited by the Institute of Hospitality and endorsed by the Craft Guild of Chefs, ensuring participants gain both industry-standard training and meaningful workplace experience. Alongside professional development, CRUMBS also promotes social inclusion, confidence, and wellbeing by creating a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment.
At The CRUMBS Project, there is a genuine culture of care at CRUMBS that inspires other charities, businesses, and organisations alike. The team advocates tirelessly for the needs of its trainees, many of whom require tailored accommodations to succeed within placements and working environments. CRUMBS adapts to each individual with compassion, professionalism, and determination, demonstrating an exceptional level of understanding and experience.
The CRUMBS Project consistently delivers on its mission and values, with more than 90% of trainees progressing into employment after completing their programmes. Beyond these outcomes, CRUMBS has built a strong and positive presence within the local community through partnerships with employers, community engagement, and by inspiring the next generation of hospitality professionals.
