Gender Outreach Workers are a team of four people supporting people on the Leeds Gender Identity Service waiting list, care pathway, and people thinking about referral. This small but impactful team work in partnership with the NHS, Yorkshire MESMAC and Lancashire LGBT to deliver peer support since 2017 and has seen ongoing demand for what they offer. They provide a person centred and holistic approach with advice, signposting, one to one and peer group support. This brilliant team supports transgender and non-binary people through all stages of their transition. They run sessions including Making Waves swim, Over 50's, Mental Health, support a trans and non-binary Sexual Health Clinic, facilitate focus groups, and provide advice to professionals. They also co-founded #TransHealthPartnership which brings health services and clients together. Gender Outreach Workers support numerous third sector and other health services across England.
