2022 Shortlisted Nominee

Positive Role Model Award: Disability

Lyla O’Donovan was diagnosed with a brain tumour when she was just three years old. Given just a 50/50 chance of survival, Lyla, described by many as a ‘Warrior’ is now 9 and whilst dealing with numerous operations, hydrocephalus, seizures, weakness to her left side, and ongoing hospital appointments, still finds the time to raise awareness for childhood brain tumours, becoming the youngest ambassador for Brain Tumour charity The Brain Tumour Support. After setting up ‘Lyla & Lilley’s Stars’ – a project that sends out bravery certificates to children with illnesses around the world, Lyla’s inspirational efforts were recognised as she was awarded the Child of Courage Award and Well Child Awards Inspirational Child Award, with her accolade being presented by Prince Harry. Defining all odds, Lyla has been a beacon of hope and inspiration for thousands of children and adults.
