Positive Role Model Award: LGBT

 

With 10 years’ worth of experience in the science communication and education, Sarah Cosgriff is a beacon of inspiration for the LGBTQIA+ community. She is passionate about LGBT+ inclusion for young people and Sarah has been able to do this through their work at the Association for Science Education and Schools OUT UK as well as volunteering for Swindon-based LGBT+ youth group, Out of the Can. A visible advocate for the asexual community, Sarah co-founded Aces in STEM, an online space for individuals on the asexual-spectrum who work or study STEM subjects all over the world. Sarah provides many ways for people to learn about LGBTQIA+ identities and issues. They raise the visibility of queer people (including scientists) through social media content and with her cousins, share the experiences of queer Filipinos through their podcast Queer Cuz.
