Positive Role Model Award: Disability

Essex based Sophie Butler was left paralysed from the waist down as a result of a gym accident. Determined not to let this crush her passion for fitness, Sophie embraces her disability, utilising her platform to empower her audience, educating on subjects such as trolling, disability awareness and self love. A proud ambassador for the likes of Dove and Google, Sophie has featured in Women’s Health Magazine, was the first wheelchair user to cover the UK’s Cosmopolitan Magazine and went on to win Cosmo’s ‘Influencer of the Year’ Award. Hailed a disabled and queer queen, Sophie is a force to be reckoned with, and through her online work and collaborations with global brands, has encouraged people across the Disabled and LGBTQ+ communities to feel empowered and unapologetic. Listed as one of Attitude Magazine’s most influential LGBTQ+ people, this incredible powerhouse is deserving of a place on the shortlist.
